This term describes regeneration of the upper and lower jawbone by means of synthetic or natural therapeutic preparations.
After this treatment the dentist can place an implant into a place where there was not enough bone before. Guided bone regeneration is advised in the following cases:
- gaps after tooth extraction
- root resection
- atrophy of alveolar process due to using partial acrylic or mini dentures
- Maxillary sinus lift
Guided bone regeneration can be carried out together with placing the implant or as a preceding procedure. As a result healing time is prolonged by 7 to 10 months, depending on the technique used.
Above mentioned procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic or general anaesthetic on request.
