Premolar and molar teeth play an essential crucial role in chewing. Moreover, they are responsible for the so called height of occlusion which, when disturbed, results in changing our facial features.
Restoration in this case has to, first of all, meet the mechanical requirements. The use of new generation materials enables us to reach high aesthetic effect.
Posterior teeth restoration techniques allows the dentist to recreate the natural shape, colour (and possible stains) and perfect corresponding adjustment to the surrounding teeth.
This particular example presents two amalgam fillings which have lost their mechanical properties. Having the possibility to restore the natural look (this consists of: proper selection of colour, rebuilding anatomically shaped chewing surface and reconstructing possible discoloration of the enamel fissure) and fill the teeth with new generation of materials, the following two procedures have been carried out: the tooth being closer in the picture have been filled with the use of a direct technique, that is during only one appointment, due to the technical possibilities created by its location in the mouth. The latter, located in a place with a restricted space for the tools and manual operations, has been rebuilt by an alternative method of a crown inlay.
